Pierre Navarre

1820

Pierre Navarre is credited as the first EuroAmerican to settle in South Bend, establishing a post to trade with the local Potawatomi. Pierre marries a Potawatomi woman and they have seven children together. Pierre initially moves out west with the Potawatomi when they were removed in 1840, but returns to South Bend for the remainder of his life.
