Sign-up opportunities for individuals:

Volunteer sign-up is now live!

SB150 will need hundreds of volunteers throughout the year to make all events a success, particularly during the Birthday Weekend May 23-24 and the week leading up to the big event.

There are two ways to sign up for volunteer shifts – as an individual, or as a group. For group sign-ups, you will commit 10 or more people to a shift, and you will be the point of contact for your group.

Check out all of the exciting volunteer opportunities, and sign up yourself or your group today!

SB150 Birthday Weekend Volunteers are asked to attend one of the four following Mandatory Volunteer Orientation Sessions:

  • Friday, May 15, noon – 1:00 p.m., Century Center, Bendix Theatre
  • Saturday, May 16, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Main Branch of St. Joseph County Public Library, Humphreys Room
  • Monday, May 18, noon – 1:00 p.m., Century Center, Bendix Theatre
  • Monday, May 18, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Century Center, Bendix Theatre

ALL volunteers will need to attend one of these four mandatory Volunteer Orientation Sessions. It is required by our insurance company that all volunteers and staff attend them, so that everybody is informed of safety procedures, and knowledgeable about the event in general.

These sessions will also help you and/or your group to feel more comfortable and prepared when you arrive for your shift, and will go over any and all questions you may have, such as where you should park, what you should wear, where you need to check in, etc.

This event is slated to be the biggest party South Bend has ever seen, which is a huge undertaking. There will be a lot of information to go over, but we will make it fun and keep the meeting around 45 minutes – no longer than an hour.

Volunteer shirts will also be distributed at these meetings, and only at these meetings. It is important that anyone wearing this shirt during Birthday Weekend be able to answer questions that guests may have, such as where the restrooms are, what to do if they have lost a child, etc. This is another reason that these meetings are mandatory for everyone – so that guests can have complete confidence in the ability and knowledge of the SB150 Volunteer Team.

If you would like more information on Birthday Weekend – download the SB150 app and/or visit the SB150 Birthday Weekend website. If you would like a detailed presentation on SB150 and all that it stands for and seeks to achieve this year, check out this SB150 youtube presentation video:

Note – there is no need to RSVP for a session, and if you are with a group, it is not necessary that all members of your group attend the same session.

If you are unable to make any of the orientation sessions, you can still assist with the cleanup and teardown shift on Sunday evening. Just show up at the Volunteer Headquarters – Howard Park Senior Center – at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The shift will run until about 9 p.m.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to SB150!
